CITIZEN ENGAGEMENT - FROM YOUR DOORSTEP TO TOWN COUNCIL
We have been actively canvassing our streets in recent weeks, exchanging with residents on many Town files and municipal matters. It's a real pleasure to go through such a stimulating process. Interacting and connecting with residents is what motivates us most as candidates. All these discussions have generated many ideas as to how we can improve communication and citizen engagement in our community.
Residents are asking for a collaborative approach and wish to be Informed, Consulted, and Involved. The goal is to facilitate communication on key matters as well as improve interactions with the Town (e.g., registration, complaints, news). Residents are also seeking change in management style and we believe that assigning responsibility and accountability to each councillor is key.
With your participation, we can achieve a collaborative and interactive approach to Town communication and achieve the following goals:
maintain continuous dialog with you;
share information and solicit constructive feedback;
tap into our collective intelligence;
educate residents to gain better knowledge on key matters;
ensure Town has clear understanding of your priorities;
enable engaged residents.
Providing greater communication channels regarding Town affairs is essential. In doing so, we commit to the following:
ensure transparency regarding all Town issues;
implement new processes to improve citizen engagement (better website, mobile app);
implement a robust, informative, and intuitive digital platform;
implement citizen committees on key issues (permanent and ad-hoc);
provide opportunities to exchange with residents (consultations and informal settings);
be available to answer questions and obtain feedback & comments.
We thank residents for their time and warm welcome at their door. In hoping we meet as many of you in the final weeks of this campaign, we look forward to working with you, for you, in the future.
